Identity Theft

Thoughts!

The fly in the ointment of perfection?

Well maybe not.

.

You cannot just stop thinking.

It is a self-generating machine that we have been feeding

with our attention since who knows when.

.

A ravenous beast, a black hole

sucking in the energy of consciousness

and demanding ownership.

.

You have been hypnotised

into believing ‘this’ is who you are.

Let’s call it by its name: “Identity Theft”.

.

With practice and meditation and contemplation and a fierce passion

to know what is true, there comes a moment of revelation.

You find yourself standing outside.

.

You simply see it as it is, and in that moment

you know it isn’t you. You have seen through its disguise.

It has hijacked your focus and demanded the whole of your life in ransom.

.

In a rare individual that might be enough.

“Fool me once, shame on you.

Fool me twice, shame on me”

.

For most of us, it is a process,

building up the trust to make the shift of identity

from being a someone. Humility is your best friend here.

.

You are simply the empty, unattached awareness

in which thought arises. Expect an identity crisis for a while,

for there is no specific mask to hide behind. No fall-back strategy to rely on.

.

The good news is, with whatever limitations embodiment has gifted you,

you are the ‘eternal-undefined-unlimited’ experiencing them,

working creatively with them in the simple joy of expressing Being.

.

Thoughts, once grasped, create endless realms, false realities,

a never-ending maze of dualities, everything arising with its opposite,

and thoughts bouncing between them, with no possibility of resolution.

.

Sit still. Relax. Stay clear. Allow your narrow focus to expand ever outwards.

With patience, the mechanism starts to slow, like an unwound toy stopping.

All is replaced by silence. No resolution necessary. There never was a problem.
