.
There are two forms of Knowing
Head-Knowing
Heart-Knowing.
.
They are radically different.
Head-Knowing knows it all and fails to recognise Heart-Knowing.
Heart-Knowing embraces Head-Knowing and enfolds it into itself.
.
Head-Knowing is ‘showy’ and grabs the attention,
in its analytical frenzy to absorb facts and information
and build up a comprehensive encyclopaedia of the known.
It is knowing-about something,
and in its arrogance, thinks it knows everything.
.
Heart-Knowing is shy and unassuming
and sits in the background quietly providing the living context,
always present though rarely considered.
Hiding in plain sight, patiently waiting to be discovered,
it is Knowing-as-Being, an arising not a fixation,
a humble and generous offering
with no demand to be seen or heard.
.
Head-Knowing carries fear and angst and desire.
Rooted in a deep uncertainty of Being-Here,
it carries an all-consuming need-to-know-first before acting:
An ever-growing burden acting as a defensive wall,
a self-reflecting hall of mirrors
creating its own little ‘safe’ world
built up and around the mythologies it weaves
from what it thinks it knows.
.
Heart-Knowing entails resting, trusting,
wide-open-ness, deep acceptance
and transparent vulnerability:
a putting down of the burden-of-knowing.
This knowing is immediate, transient,
more flow than fact, all encompassing,
an on-going gentle revelation, not to be grasped,
but to be drowned in, rooted in Not-Knowing.
.
Here, the entire Universe opens up
like a bud coming into full and glorious bloom,
as one bows down dissolving in its simple magnificence
and trembling, fragrant, vivid realness.
Knowing as Awareness as Being as Self.
.
There is a hierarchy.
Knowing Something arises within Knowing as Being.
In the presence of Presence, Head-Knowing finds its place,
as a useful tool in the unfolding, not as the final arbiter of Truth.
Heart before Head
Whole before Part
Newly Minted before Out of Date
Flowing-Free before Clinging-On
Love before Control.
