Continuum

.

Resting, undistracted in the centre of my Being,

bathed in the pristine freshness of the ever-new,

there is a deep recognition that I am Home.

.

I know this ‘place’, this peace, this vastness,

this undefinable, all-encompassing knowing

that ‘just-this’ is everything, nothing missing.

.

I ‘remember’ that I have been ‘here-now’ many times

in my own unfolding, without recognising its significance enough,

to simply rest there, casually dismissing it as a nice time.

.

Easily distracted by the compulsion to be doing,

I’ve walked away from its loving-living embrace

only to find myself lost in the maze of my mind’s narrative.

.

Looking back, the fleeting impressions of Home

are recognised as the very same ‘Here-Now’ beyond location,

that has stabilised as my foundation and lived experience.

.

I now realise it has always been present as an unbroken continuum:

It was me that turned my attention away, insisting that somewhere else

in the future lay this mythical Shangri-La that would still the heart longing

.

But as I now rest, at peace, in the centre of my own Being

I know the longing in my heart is a gentle magnetic pull

to return to the Home, my own self, I could never ever leave.

.

I have been carried, supported and nourished through

the storms and droughts and crazy roller-coaster ride,

by this continuum: no beginning, no end, open, available, simply Home.
